Causes and treatment of smoke from 10kw diesel generator

10kw diesel generators generally have three types of smoke:

(1) Black smoke

Why do diesel generators emit black smoke? Black smoke is because diesel is not fully burned and carbon black is formed. In fact, there are five factors that cause black smoke:

Wear of piston rings, cylinder liners, etc.

After the piston ring and the cylinder liner are worn, the compression pressure is insufficient, so that the normal ratio of the mixture mixing is changed at the end of the compression stroke, so that the fuel is burned under anaerobic conditions to generate carbon deposits.

Injector malfunction

The injector does not atomize or drip, so that the fuel cannot be sufficiently mixed with the air in the cylinder and cannot be fully burned. The black smoke caused by the poor operation of the injector is more obvious when the diesel engine is running at a low speed. Because the intake vortex in the cylinder is weak at low speed operation, the possibility that the oil droplet or the oil bundle is dispersed by the air flow is reduced and the residence time is longer, and the carbon black discharge is more likely to be formed.

Combustion chamber shape change

The manufacturing quality of the shape of the combustion chamber does not meet the technical requirements, so that the compression residual seam is too large and too small, and the position of the piston is wrongly changed, which will change the shape of the combustion chamber, thereby affecting the quality of fuel-air mixing and deteriorating the fuel combustion conditions.

Improper adjustment of fuel supply advance angle

(1) The fuel supply advance angle is too large, and the fuel is injected into the combustion chamber too early. Because the pressure inside the cylinder is low, the fuel cannot be burned. When the piston is ascending, the cylinder reaches a certain pressure and temperature, and the combustible mixture burns.

(2) The fuel supply advance angle is too small, the fuel injected into the cylinder is too late, and some of the fuel is not separated or formed into a combustible mixture, and is separated or discharged. The fuel discharged with the exhaust gas is decomposed by high temperature to form black smoke.

5. The oil supply is too large

If the oil supply is too large, the amount of oil entering the cylinder will increase, resulting in less oil and less fuel combustion. In addition, excessive workload, poor fuel quality, and low operating temperatures can cause exhaust fumes.

(2) Blue smoke

And why is there a blue smoke? This is related to the lubricating oil. The lubricating oil enters the cylinder and is evaporated into blue oil and gas by heat. The main reason for emitting blue smoke along with the exhaust gas is:

The air filter is clogged, the air intake is not smooth, or the oil level in the oil pan is too high (oil bath air filter).

Lubricating oil is mixed into the fuel.

(3) White smoke

White smoke is caused by the white smoke of the exhaust pipe when the diesel generator set is just starting or cold, because the temperature inside the cylinder of the diesel engine is low and the oil is evaporated. Especially in winter. If the exhaust pipe still emits white smoke when the engine is hot, it is judged that the diesel engine is malfunctioning. The main reasons are as follows:

The cylinder liner is cracked or the cylinder head gasket is damaged. The cooling water enters the cylinder and forms a water mist or water vapor when it is exhausted.

The injector is poorly atomized and has oil dripping.

The fuel supply advance angle is too small.

There is water and air in the fuel.

The pressure of the fuel injection pump is too low or the piston, cylinder liner and other wear seriously cause insufficient compression force.
