Outdoor LED displays are widely used for the release of various live information. Is there a more convenient way to display real-time updates of data?

As a new information medium, LED display has outstanding advantages in performance. Its long service life, fast response, simple drive and stable performance have been widely used in various fields of society. For example, the highway uses LED display to release road condition information in real time; the stadium uses LED display to announce live scenes in real time. How are these real-time information released to the site quickly?

At present, the data transmission of outdoor LED display can be done in the following ways:

The staff uses a laptop to the site to update the data. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to update the display data in real time, it is difficult to find the fault of the LED display in time, and the labor intensity of the staff is increased, and the labor cost of the enterprise operation is increased.

The LED display is connected to the Internet via an Ethernet line to communicate with a server-side computer connected to the Internet, and the computer uses the computer to transmit data to the LED display via the Internet. This method requires Ethernet cabling, which is inconvenient to install and expensive to maintain.

Control of the LED display is achieved by short messages. The disadvantage of this type of data transmission is that it is difficult to edit short messages, and the amount of data transmitted is relatively small. At the same time, there is a certain delay in the transmission of short messages, and it is difficult to ensure the real-time performance of the data, especially in the occasions where road traffic, stadiums and the like need to display information in real time.

The LED display is controlled via a mobile communication network. The advantage of this method of transmitting data is that the installation is simple, the speed is relatively fast, and it is not limited by time and space, and the display data can be updated in real time. Therefore, the use of mobile communication network has become an ideal choice.

The system for remotely controlling the LED display based on the GPRS network is shown in the figure. The system consists of LED display, GPRS DTU, PC server software and so on. In this scenario, the only requirement for an LED display controller is that it requires an RS-232 or RS-485 communication interface.

The GPRS wireless data transmission device transmits data through the Internet. The upper computer server of the LED display needs to be connected to the Internet to communicate with the GPRS wireless data transmission device. The host computer can connect to the Internet by using static IP or dynamic domain name. If the host computer of the LED display is in the LAN, it needs to perform port mapping operation on the router.

In this application, ZWG-20IE acts as the client of the network device, and controls the upper computer software of the LED display as the server. The host computer software can communicate with the client through standard socket network programming.

Generally speaking, manufacturers who produce LED display controllers will provide a host computer software based on RS-232 interface. The host computer software communicates with the LED display controller through the serial port.
