XGIMI Technology held a new product launch conference in Chengdu, launching H2 and H2 Slim two screenless TVs and Hao · LUNE laser TV. Among them, H2 positions 1080p flagship screenless TV, while Hao Lune is a relatively cheap 10,000-level laser TV product.

Compared with the previous products of XGIMI, both the screenless TV H2 series and the new laser TV have been upgraded in terms of brightness, picture quality and sound quality. In the XGIMI AI system in cooperation with Baidu DuerOS, XGIMI added voiceprint recognition, voice interaction, children's mode and other functions to the new product, and officially played the "artificial intelligence" card.

What kind of company is XGIMI?

Ximi Technology is not a Xiaomi ecological chain enterprise. Due to the expansion of the name of the Xiaomi eco-chain enterprise in recent years, coupled with the word "mi" in the company's name, many users mistakenly believe that Ximi is a Xiaomi eco-chain enterprise. However, it is not.

In March of this year, XGIMI Technology received more than 600 million yuan in financing. Baidu, Jingwei China, Sichuan Wentou, Sailing Capital, Bojiang Capital, Panlin Capital, Luxin Venture Capital, and Kirin Capital jointly invested. There is no Xiaomi company involved, so the two companies, Ximi and Xiaomi, only have the word "mi" in their names, which is not really related.

Screenless TV, laser TV and Internet TV

Open the official website of XGIMI, you will find that this company is mainly based on intelligent micro-investment equipment. The H2 series screenless TV and Hao · LUNE laser TV released by XGIMI are typical representatives of such products. Three years ago, Zhong Bo, chairman and CEO of XGIMI Technology, said that "laser TV will subvert traditional TV within five years." Today, Zhong Bo said confidently that XGIMI laser TV will account for 10% to 20% of the market in the future.

In Zhong Bo's eyes, screenless TV and traditional Internet TV are not a competitive relationship, and such products will complement traditional TV. "It (screenless TV) is used as the second TV and the third TV, used in the bedroom and study," Zhong Bo said.

"Laser TV is the real alternative to the traditional TV-the big TV in the living room." In fact, laser TV can be regarded as a projection device using laser as the light source, built-in smart TV hardware and system, to achieve the function of TV. The positioning of XGIMI is very clear, that is, it is fancy to this part of the market of home projection, and the algorithm and content platform of Internet TV are added to the laser TV.

According to Zhong Bo, the "fight" to subvert traditional TV has already begun, but it is only slowly strengthening.

Hardware is only part of XGIMI's revenue

In fact, laser TV had a prototype in 2003, but it was restricted by factors such as clarity and ease of use. Laser TV began to take shape in 2015 and gradually appeared in front of users. Ximi is one of the first companies to enter this field. However, due to the high price, most users have no chance to experience laser TV. Therefore, it is impossible to talk about the replacement of traditional TV with laser TV.

What XGIMI is doing now is to lower the price of laser TV, thus accelerating the popularity of laser TV. To this end, they put forward the concept of "commodity price ratio", in their words, "the best quality at the same price, the lowest price at the same quality." Despite the rather gimmicky term "price-to-price ratio", XGIMI is indeed moving in the direction of "low-cost laser TV", trying to popularize such products to more users.

Zhong Bo said that it is a very rare thing to pull the living room laser TV to the level of 10,000 yuan. So how does XGIMI reduce the price of laser TV?

According to Zhong Bo, XGIMI has created a lot of membership revenue for iQiyi this year, and the advertising part with higher revenue has not been added in large quantities. In the future, these will become the niche of feeding back XGIMI hardware. On the other hand, XGIMI is also increasing its investment in the supply chain and R & D to reduce costs through the localization of intermediate components.

Zhong Bo concluded that these three parts are complementary to each other. Scale brings operational value, which gives enterprises the ability to invest in R & D. In turn, operational value and R & D will feed back the hardware and make the hardware scale. During the interview, Zhong Bo also mentioned that ecology needs good products as support, and good products need to start from consumer demand.

Artificial intelligence enters the ecology of XGIMI screenless TV

Baidu is one of XGIMI's investment companies. The XGIMI AI system is based on Baidu's DuerOS. To this end, XGIMI and Baidu jointly established an AI screenless laboratory. The new products launched by XGIMI have all adopted artificial intelligence systems. At this point, XGIMI TVs without screens have begun to possess the same attributes as smart speakers. In addition to voice interaction, it also includes functions to control smart homes and voiceprint recognition.

Zhong Bo believes that the addition of artificial intelligence is to enhance the product experience and make the product more refined.
