Lei Feng network: So you are more optimistic about the automotive industry, why? What are the developments in this area now?
Maruyama Eiji: Murata's main business is mobile phones, but now the mobile phone market has become saturated. We must also develop some of the more potential market, optimistic about the automotive industry, one is because the demand for cars is relatively large, one is Consumer demand for automotive electronics is also relatively large, such as entertainment and safety requirements, then the demand for electronic components is also growing.
We have just formulated a new three-year plan in May. Automotive electronics, medical care, and the Internet of Things are the main directions for our future development. Among them, automotive electronics will be our main area of ​​push. At present, we are already doing the automotive electronics market globally. Its share of Murata's business has continued to grow. It is now about 15%. In China, we are also cooperating with a number of auto companies. Now there is a clear and gradual progress. Lei Fengwang: The robot has only been developing obviously in China in the past two years. However, it has been developing relatively fast in Japan. What do you think of robots?
Maruyama Eiji: As you said, the robot is better developed in Japan, but after all, its demand is limited. For Murata, its sales will not be too large, so it is not in our future. Lei Feng Network: You have been in China for many years. In your opinion, what kind of changes have taken place in China's component market? Has China's component companies formed competitive pressure on you?
Maruyama Eiji: Very straightforward, I do not know if it will harm China, but frankly speaking, China has support for chips and semiconductors in the national policy. However, for components, we cannot see a big support, so China’s Component companies are more of their own development. Judging from the history of development, Japan has a long history of development on the basic components, so it has accumulated technology, then there will be advantages in doing more advanced things on this accumulation, from Japanese manufacturers and Chinese manufacturers.
