Countries around the world have clearly defined the policies of eliminating or restricting the use of incandescent lamps. Incandescent lamps will gradually withdraw from the stage of history; and the energy-saving lamps that are vigorously promoted today are also frequently criticized because of environmental issues. LED lighting fixtures will become the main lighting fixtures in the future, which has basically gained consensus in the industry. But at present, there are still some problems in the promotion of LED. How can LEDs be accepted by users and truly become mainstream lamps? The author believes that to solve the current problems, we must find the application method that can give full play to its advantages. This is a common test faced by the LED industry.
Innovative design has a way out
The single power of the LED light-emitting diode is not large. If a larger power is needed, several light-emitting diodes are needed to achieve the designed power, so the heat dissipation problem is faced. If this problem cannot be solved effectively, it will affect the life of the product. Current LED lamps require heat sinks, resulting in increased volume and increased cost.
At the present stage, LED lamps are mostly designed with reference to the basic elements of incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps, that is, all the elements except the light-emitting tube are based on the original lamps, which makes the advantages of LED lighting not fully exerted and leads to high costs. The price of LED lamps is several times higher than that of energy-saving lamps and high-pressure sodium lamps. LEDs in the market also affect their competitiveness because of their higher prices. Therefore, the structure of LED lamps inherits the basic styles of incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps. This is relatively smooth for applications, but it loses the characteristics of LED itself. It is inevitable that it will lack competitiveness because of its short striking opponents. Therefore, only innovative design has a way out to create the future of LED.
DC power supply for LED lamps
Chinese LED lighting companies should make a difference in LED applications. The author believes that if you want to manufacture a lamp that best demonstrates the advantages of LED, the premise is to provide DC power, directly to the LED lamp, reduce the driving circuit, use fewer electronic components, use space for heat dissipation, the lamp can use less or no radiator. If there is a road DC power system to provide power for it, the electronic circuits and components are reduced, which saves cost and extends life. Currently, converting AC power to DC power occupies about 20% of the cost of the product. In terms of working voltage, as long as it does not affect the quality of the power supply, there will be no voltage drop, that is, the design can meet the requirements of the lamps and power supply.
Lighting fixtures are mainly used indoors and outdoors, with outdoor street lighting as the mainstay. All of these are closely related to engineering construction, which is the largest market for lighting fixtures. The author suggests whether it is possible to consider providing DC low-voltage power supply for the lighting system in newly built buildings; meanwhile, the development of DC low-voltage power supply system will also be considered in road lighting. In this way, the cost is reduced, and the future of LED lighting will be broader. I believe that it will become a mainstream lighting fixture just around the corner.
The editor's note applies a direct current system to directly supply LED lamps, which can reduce the cost of lighting products and is an innovative idea. However, there are also many technical problems and management problems, which are worthy of further discussion and thinking.
