Roma Group Develops Directionless Remote Control Wireless Communication Module

Today, many remote controllers for household appliances are no longer using infrared light. Instead, they are increasingly popular international standards for wireless remote control “ZigBee® RF4CE”. This is a non-directional, even if there is an obstacle between the remote control and the device. It can also be easily operated, and can control multiple devices, two-way communication, and methods using short-range wireless technology with security features. In order to prolong the battery life of the remote controller, the wireless communication LSI used by the wireless remote controller is required to have lower power consumption. From the standpoint of reducing standby power consumption, the host device that is always powered on also requires lower power consumption. In order to meet this market demand, LAPIS Semiconductor has used the low-power wireless technology and the newly developed IEEE802.15.4 circuit that have been accumulated in the past to introduce the ML7275, an LSI for wireless remote controllers that realizes the industry's top class low-power consumption. However, the development of high-frequency circuit designs, wireless characteristic adjustments, and evaluations that have a great impact on wireless characteristics is very important. The development of wireless technology is very important. It is a problem that customers with little experience in wireless technology development can easily perform development. Moreover, for many customers with development experience, in order to shorten the product development cycle, it is also desirable to provide modules that have good wireless characteristics.

In response to this situation, LAPIS Semiconductor has developed the 2.4GHz wireless communication module "MK72750A-01", which complies with the "ZigBee® RF4CE" protocol and can instantly transmit electric waves through built-in antennas that have good radio characteristics. In addition, this module is a wireless communication LSI. Since the "ML7275" manufactured by the company is built in, this module can achieve the wireless remote control function of the ML7275 with low power consumption and RF4CE compliance. This product has a built-in antenna that adjusts the radio characteristics. It has been certified by the domestic radio wave method in Japan. Therefore, customers who have little experience in wireless technology development can start to develop it easily. In Japan, radio waves can be launched immediately for evaluation and development, and the development cycle can be greatly shortened. In addition, the use of the company's wireless communications LSI design, LSI-related matters can provide rapid and accurate technical support.

In the future, LAPIS Semiconductor will also focus on the wireless remote control market, and will continue to improve the lineup of wireless communication LSIs and modules such as ZigBee® and IEEE802.15.4 Note 2 used in near field wireless devices for the sensor network and ubiquitous network market.

【Features】

・In line with the wireless remote control protocol ZigBee® RF4CE Ver. 1.0

It conforms to the universal wireless remote control protocol in the world and can therefore be used worldwide.

(When used abroad in Japan, it is necessary to separately comply with wireless regulations in various countries.)

• Low power consumption As an IEEE 802.15.4-compliant module, it achieves the industry's smallest level of low power consumption.

(When transmitting: 16mA; When receiving: 21mA; When sleeping: 1.0μA)

・ The rich layer configuration interface is applicable not only to ZigBee® RF4CE but also IEEE802.15.4 MAC, IEEE802.15.4 PHY layer, so it can be used not only for wireless remote control but also for all close range wireless networks.

・8x8 Keyboard Scan Accelerator A keyboard scan accelerator with keyboard scan function, which is indispensable for remote control. The maximum corresponds to 64 keys.

・The user program develops a user program area with a maximum of 2 Kbytes. The user application can be made to work by downloading from the built-in E2PROM to the ML7275. In addition, because of the on-chip debug circuitry, easy application development is possible by combining with μEASE Note 3.

・Achieved Japanese radio wave certification The Japanese radio wave certification has been obtained in the form of a built-in antenna module. Therefore, it is possible to immediately transmit radio waves and begin evaluation and development.

(When used abroad in Japan, it is necessary to separately comply with wireless regulations in various countries.)

・The dry battery drive has a built-in voltage regulator, so a single power supply can operate. The power supply range is 1.8V-3.6V. Compared with the conventional module, the low voltage side range is expanded by 0.3V, and the dry battery can be used without waste.
