Mitsubishi Chemical and Pioneer will supply samples for organic EL lighting modules

Mitsubishi Chemical and Pioneer announced on September 25 that the white-emitting organic EL lighting module that uses the coating process to form a light-emitting layer will be available from the end of September 2013. Although there are many trial production examples of organic EL illumination panels produced by the coating process, it is estimated that the sample supply is the first.

At present, Mitsubishi Chemical and Pioneer have begun to supply organic EL lighting panels using a coating process, but in this product, the coating process is only used to form a substrate layer between the electrode on the side of the extracted light and the light-emitting layer. In the panel to which the sample is to be supplied, in addition to the substrate layer, a coating process is employed in the light-emitting layer. According to reports, manufacturing costs will be reduced to 1/5 to 1/10 of existing products.

The size of the light-emitting portion of the organic EL lighting module to be supplied this time is 76.2 mm or more. In mass production, when the maximum brightness is 2000 cd/m2, the LT70 (the brightness decreases to 70% of the initial brightness) will reach 30,000 hours. The color temperature is 2700K and the module weighs 4.1g.
