0 Preface

Antennas are an essential component of the Bluetooth wireless system for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic energy. Since the current technology cannot integrate the antenna into the semiconductor chip, in addition to the core system chip in the Bluetooth module, the antenna is another key component that affects the transmission characteristics of the Bluetooth module. This paper presents the design of an inverted F antenna, which is small in size, simple in design, low in manufacturing cost and high in work efficiency, and is suitable for Bluetooth system applications.

1 antenna design

The inverted F antenna is an antenna developed at the end of the last century. It has the unique advantages of simple structure, light weight, conformal shape, low manufacturing cost, high radiation efficiency, and easy realization of multi-band operation. Therefore, in recent years, inverted F Antennas have been widely studied and developed.

The inverted F antenna is formed by adding an inverted L structure edb at the end of the vertical element of the inverted L antenna abc. It uses an additional edb structure to adjust the matching of the antenna and the feeder coaxial. The antenna has a low profile structure, and the radiation field has two polarizations, horizontal and vertical. In addition, due to its compact structure and equi-directional radiation characteristics, its good grounding design can effectively improve the working efficiency of the antenna. Figure 1 shows a typical inverted-F antenna structure. The antenna can be regarded as a short-circuited e-terminal, open-ended resonator at a, so the voltage at terminal a is the largest, the current is zero, the voltage at the e-terminal is zero, and the current is maximum. . Since the structure of the inverted-F antenna includes a grounded metal surface, the sensitivity to the grounded metal surface of the RF module can be reduced, making it ideal for use in system-on-chip. In addition, since the inverted F antenna only needs to use a metal conductor and an appropriate feed line to adjust the position of the short-circuit end of the antenna to the ground plane, the manufacturing cost is low and can be directly soldered to the PCB circuit board.
