Founded by Carnegie Mellon students, the company called FacioMetrics specializes in using robotic learning algorithms to let smartphones analyze faces in real time through a camera framework. The company provides tools to record, detect, scan, and understand the behavior and age of human faces.
Currently, the official website of FacioMetrics can only display a statement left by the founder of the company.
Prior to this, there have been academic and industry applications of FacioMetrics, including Lightricks, Anki, Meograph, University of Kentucky, Carnegie Mellon University, MIT, and perhaps even Facebook itself.
A Facebook spokesperson stated: “The way people share communication is changing, and the effects like masks can make people express themselves in a more interesting and creative way. We are very excited to be able to welcome the FacioMetrics team, they can give Photos and videos bring more interesting effects and make the sharing experience more interactive."
