BlackBerry said it will not create a back door for the FBI

The FBI has reset the iCloud password for the shooting of San Bernardino by special means. However, Apple’s attitude toward not unlocking user equipment and leaving behind a back door is still very firm. At present, the industry and public opinion has clearly divided its position on this matter into Two major factions. As a company that focuses on security encryption, BlackBerry also gave a boost to users of its BlackBerry OS 10 and Android devices (starting with Priv) and stated that it would never create a back door for the relevant departments.

Like Apple, BlackBerry has also been talked about whether to leave the back door for government visits in the software, but this Canadian mobile phone manufacturer apparently has been very careful with these issues.

In a statement to PCMag, BlackBerry’s Chief Operating Officer Marty Beard reiterated during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that the company promised not to leave the back door. Earlier, BlackBerry CEO Cheng Shouzong once stated in January that the BlackBerry will never share passwords with the government.

To prove that the company is taking this matter seriously, Beard mentioned a recent dispute in Pakistan when the company was ordered to share user data at the request of the government. Beard said:

Because we were asked to provide a back door that did not do so, we recently withdrew almost from Pakistan. On the other hand, we will comply with reasonable legal requests and will always do so.

BlackBerry CEO Cheng Shouzong explained that although the government will never get a back door to access the device, users still need to pay attention to insecure third-party applications:

An insecure third-party application, as well as information access due to inadequate user security behavior, is not related to the initial design of the BlackBerry device. No BlackBerry device leaves the back door, and Blackberry does not store or share device passwords with third parties such as law enforcement agencies.
