What is a power adapter? Power adapters, also known as external power sources, are generally used as power supply voltage conversion devices for small portable electronic devices and electronic devices. It is usually used in small electronic products such as mobile phones, LCD monitors and laptops etc. Its function is to convert the high voltage of 220 volts at home into a stable low voltage of about 5 volts to 20 volts that these electronic products can work on so that they can work properly.

There are two main types of power adapters, switching power supplies and linear power supplies.

1. The power-off is a power supply that uses modern electronic technology to control the switching time ratio and maintain a stable output voltage. The switching power supply of the power adapter is generally composed of a pulse width modulation (PWM) control IC and a MOSFET.

Advantages: high efficiency, small size, can work in a wide voltage range. Disadvantages: The interference to the power supply circuit is very large, and it is difficult to eliminate the fault when the fault occurs.

2. The power supply converts AC through the transformer, rectifier circuit rectifier filter to obtain unstable DC voltage. In order to achieve high-precision DC voltage, the power adapter must regulate the output voltage through a voltage feedback circuit.

Advantages: The power supply technology is mature, the circuit is simple, and the switching power supply has no interference and noise. Disadvantage: The voltage feedback circuit is online. Due to the use of an inductive transformer, the power consumption of the regulator is large, the conversion efficiency is low, and the equipment is heavy.

Such power conversion equipment is usually used for a long time, and it is inevitable that many problems will occur. The line is prone to failure, voltage instability and other symptoms will occur frequently, so what should be done when a failure occurs?

1. First of all, we can judge the situation according to the instructions. You can look at the indicator light of the power adapter. If the indicator light is on, it is generally believed that there is no problem between the power supply and the adapter. It must be ensured that the indicator light itself is not damaged.

2. The Power Cord should try to avoid breaking the internal cable to form an open circuit. If the external power supply does not supply power, you can try plugging in the battery at this time. If the machine can start normally, there may be a problem with the power cord or the adapter. Then test with a multimeter to find out if there is a problem with the power cord, to simplify the maintenance difficulty, and do not try to open the power adapter case in the first place. The difficulty of opening the power adapter case is really too great.

3. If there is a problem with the original adapter, it cannot be repaired or it is too late to repair, you can use other adapters instead, as long as the output voltage and power are roughly the same. There is also a voltage stabilizing circuit inside the notebook computer, so don't worry too much about the mismatch of the output voltage.

4. I once saw on the Internet that a friend mentioned that the adapter had a problem and burned out the computer motherboard. It is estimated that this situation is very rare. If there is, the author estimates that the voltage stabilizer circuit inside the notebook computer is damaged.

5. Try not to damage the shell. After the shell is damaged, there will be problems such as strengthening of electromagnetic radiation, which will affect the stability of the machine. If the casing is damaged, try to repair it. After opening the appearance and opening the shielding layer, it is best to check the solder feet first, and observe with the naked eye. The circuit is intermittent, generally poor contact.

6. The power adapter manufacturer should check whether there is any problem with the capacitor, resistance and inductance. If the capacitor is bulging, it is best to replace it in time to avoid hidden dangers.
