In February, Samsung’s incubator, C-Lab, announced a Gear VR app for low vision people, RelúmÄno, which is now available for free at the Oculus Store for the Galaxy S7 and the newer flagship.
RelúmÄno assists people with low vision in a variety of ways: it can enlarge or reduce the image, or adjust the brightness or sharpness, highlight the contours of specific objects, reverse the color of the text, and add color filters to the screen, for visually narrow problems People can amplify their perspective.
Samsung stated that the cost of similar visual aids is extremely high. For example, the eSight3 has a list price of $9,995. While Microsoft's Seeing AI app is low in cost, it only converts visual effects to audio without visual aids.
RelúmÄno is currently only supported by Gear VR. It is almost impossible for users to wear VR to go out. Samsung also stated that it plans to develop glasses-like products to make RelúmÄno more useful.
