Maxim launches universal tuner for automotive TV systems
Maxim introduces the MAX2135 universal tuner for ISDB-T and DVB-T automotive systems. The device integrates 2 high-performance signal channels and works on a single fractional-N synthesizer. The MAX2135 is packaged in a small 7mm x 7mm, TQFN package and can provide a more compact solution than using two discrete tuner ICs. In addition, the device has a very low 3.8dB (typical) UHF noise figure, and the power consumption of both signal channels is only 330mW when operating, and the power consumption of only one channel is only 200mW. The MAX2135 combines small size packaging, low power consumption, and low noise, making it ideal for car navigation and entertainment systems.
As a general-purpose device, the MAX2135 can receive signals in three bands: VHF-low (VHF-L), VHF-high (VHF-H), and UHF. The on-chip low-pass filter supports 4MHz, 6MHz, 7MHz and 8MHz signal bandwidths, making the device ideal for receiving ISDB-T in Japan and DVB-T broadcasting in Europe. The output of each signal path is a 4MHz low IF signal that can interface with most demodulator ICs. The device also includes an on-chip tracking filter, reference clock oscillator and LNA, which greatly reduces the BOM cost of external components. The MAX2135 is available in a small 7mm x 7mm, 56-pin TQFN package and operates over the extended temperature range of -40 ° C to + 85 ° C. Evaluation boards are available to speed up the design process.
