Tencent Digital (Jiahe) iPhone fans should not worry about it? Recently, the TechnoBuffalo website published a headline article titled "Galaxy Note 7 is significantly ahead of the iPhone." Looks like it was to earn traffic, but it wasn't. The author of this article was Todd Haselton, a science and technology author who wrote this article purely to express his annoyance. Because the technology gap between Apple and Samsung is expanding.
In his article, Haselton wrote: “Samsung’s equipment has taken the lead and is ahead of the iPhone 7 we are about to see... From the current signs, Apple can't take decent technology to compete against the Galaxy Note 7.†Sheldon also cited some of the good features of Note 7, such as 5.7-inch Quad HD screen, iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, can better support VR devices, cameras support HDR technology, and many other outstanding features.
Not only that he thinks so. Raymond Soneira, DisplayMate's display specialist, has always considered Apple to be dangerous because it lags behind Samsung in curved OLED screen technology. In smart phones, the screen may be the single most important component. Soneella pointed out in the report: "OLED is evolving and it is being used by high-end smart phones... There are rumors that Apple will also install OLED screens on the iPhone. The reason why the strategy is changed is because it already understands that OLEDs are the trend."
In July of this year, IDC also pointed out in the report: "Samsung is taking share because the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are very powerful."
Many of the core components of Samsung's mobile phones are designed and manufactured by themselves, including processors and OLED screens. On the one hand, Samsung controls the key technologies of mobile phones. On the other hand, Samsung will not be affected by external suppliers. Apple is completely different.
Do consumers care
Many people think that Apple has fallen far behind. There is a big problem with this assertion: Apple owns iOS, and it also has a large number of apps. Samsung does not. Since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007, iOS has been the leader in the APP market. Consumers (except a few geeks) are obsessed with APP, not curved OLED screens and VR.
There may be some technical gaps between the iPhone and Galaxy phones. Apple may not “remedy†when the iPhone 7 is launched. Even so, the iPhone is still excellent. Apple's mobile phone is good enough to fully satisfy its users. IDC pointed out in the report that although iPhone SE is boring, it has achieved success in both emerging markets and developed markets. iPhone SE has turned many of its first smartphone purchasers into its own users, and there are many Andorid users. iPhone SE switched to Apple.
What will ordinary consumers choose? In the mail, Heisden said: "In the end we still have to see whether consumers are really interested in these features. Do consumers really want mobile phone VR? Really want to use wireless charging? Samsung mobile phone may be true. Some of the more advanced, but before the consumers really understand (in addition to the small circles interested in hardware devices, I think there will not be too many people really understand), I think these features are not particularly important."
Heisleton continued: "I wrote this article mainly to illustrate how advanced Samsung's smartphone is compared to the iPhone. It may take a while for Apple to catch up. It's okay. Even if Apple is late, it can still be a winner. â€
