New medical wireless health monitoring system

This has been preliminarily implemented in the existing Body Area Network (BAN, Human Body Wireless Local Area Network). The research institute IMEC from the Netherlands recently demonstrated this system.

In the BAN system, sensors in various positions of the human body can be connected to mobile phones for long-term reliable dynamic health monitoring, including ECG, EEG, EMG and other methods can be implemented in this system. And each monitored person will get an independent IP address, which is convenient for management and can quickly start the emergency plan when an emergency occurs.

In the existing system, the ECG electrode is connected to a small necklace with a wireless transceiver and battery. The wireless transceiver uses the nRF24L01 + network, which will be more stable and save power than using Bluetooth or near field communication. In the next step, IMEC will also use super-power RF transmitters to send and receive data, which can improve endurance and sensor portability.

The other part of the monitor is a mobile phone. IMEC connects a signal receiver to the SD card slot of a mobile phone to collect the relevant data monitored by the sensors on the body and sends it through WiFi or 3G network. It can also send the data by SMS issue.

This new monitoring system is good for medical institutions and patients. Patients can go out normally and maintain real-time transmission of health data. Medical institutions can also view related data at any time and receive warning information in an emergency. They can also be implanted on patients. Related equipment for remote treatment.
